Frequently Asked Questions

How should I dress?

We recommend that visitors come equipped with comfortable walking shoes and a light layer in case of fluctuations in temperature. Due to our proximity to the coast, we often experience a cool morning marine layer followed by warm, sunny afternoons.
Depending on which events you plan to attend, you can expect to walk anywhere from 1 to 4 total miles over the course of the entire day.

What if it rains?

Celebrate UCI is a rain or shine event and takes place across our campus. Please check the weather before coming to campus and plan accordingly. Check-in and many portions of the day take place outdoors. Information sessions will take place indoors.

What do I need for check-in?

  • Please have your mobile pass QR code ready on your phone. This can be found in your confirmation and reminder emails. Tip: take a screenshot of it before you arrive so that you don’t have to worry about Wi-Fi access or searching for it in your email.
  • Please make sure you are registered for the event before you arrive.

Is there a specific schedule I should follow?

There is no set agenda that you need to follow. We encourage you to review all available sessions prior to the event and identify what sessions would be most helpful to you.

I'm a transfer—which sessions should I attend?

Most sessions will provide information for both first year and transfer students. If the session is specific to first year or transfer students it will be noted. Check the event agenda to see all available sessions.

Can I see the dorms?

In order to protect the privacy of our current Anteaters, housing tours are not offered at UC Irvine. UCI Housing staff members will be available for questions during Celebrate UCI, and you can view a virtual tour here. You will be able to see several of our housing communities as you walk through and drive around campus.

How do I get information about a specific program or requirement for my major?

Advising staff from each of our academic schools will be available during Celebrate UCI from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can find the location of your academic school’s booth on the printed agenda you receive at check-in.

Who should I talk to about the change of major process?

  • We understand that many students admitted to an alternate major have questions about changing their major. Please note that majors cannot be changed during the admissions process. Once enrolled at UC Irvine, you may work with the academic school and/or department that you are interested in switching to.
  • Please visit the booth of the academic school that you are interested in switching in to for questions. The academic advisors will be able to provide you with the most accurate information and expectations as major changes are dependent upon available space within each major.

I or my guest have a mobility restriction. Is assistance available?

Please plan to bring any mobility assistance tool such as wheelchair, walker, etc., that you or your guests may need to get around campus comfortably by walking path.
We have a limited number of wheelchairs available for visitors taking guided campus tours, but they are only available for the duration of your campus tour.

Where can we eat?

Celebrate UCI takes place on a Saturday so almost all of our dining options on campus will be closed. There are several dining options located within walking distance of the event at University Center. Click here for a full list.

How long are the campus tours?

Campus tours take approximately 30 minutes and cover just under 1 mile of campus.
Our tour route avoids any uneven or steep terrain and moves at a moderate pace, with several breaks.

Where should I park? Do I need a parking pass?

Please view the parking information here.
