Stay active with our sports programs and at our recreation facilities!
Developing and maintaining a physically active lifestyle is the Anteater way.
Enhance your campus experience through fitness and wellness, intramural sports, club sports, activity classes, and outdoor adventures. If you’re interested in competing against other UCI students in a recreational setting, join with 8,000 other students to play the intramural sports of your choice. We also have 30 club sports teams that compete against students at other colleges and universities. If you just want to work out on your own or take cardiovascular classes, our recreation center is the place for you!
The Intramural Sports program gives UCI students the opportunity to compete against each other in various sports leagues and tournaments. Each sports league has all-male teams, all-female teams, coed teams, or housing unit teams competing against each other, and leagues are structured according to the teams’ skill level.
Beyond our Division I Athletic Program, UCI has over 30 Club Sports teams that compete on a regional and national level with other universities. There are sports like lacrosse, crew, and even climbing! UCI recently competed nationally in rock climbing, tennis, women’s rugby, and archery.
The Anteater Recreation Center (ARC) is where anteaters go to have fun! There’s no place like the ARC - it’s an impressive wellness building with something for everyone. It has 4 basketball/volleyball courts, 5 activity rooms, 2 weight rooms, a pool, cushy running track, even a demo cooking kitchen and rock wall. Outside there’s a high ropes course and a large-scale sports field complex.
Campus recreation runs an outdoor adventure program with exciting trips to Catalina Island and Joshua Tree, and a brand new sailing center and separate rowing complex on the Newport Beach harbor. Campus recreation also offers cooking classes with unique cuisines, more martial arts classes than any other school in the nation (over 15 styles to choose from), golf, guitar, swing dancing, and of course tons of exercise classes like yoga and cross-fit, 80 classes per week to be exact.
There’s something for everyone at the ARC!
